Tins of corned beef are on sale in many British supermarkets. They usually come from Brazil (the same manufacturer regardless of brand name) but recently some shops stock the same brands made in France. Again, a single manufacturer.
Personally, I like a corned beef sandwich from time to time, and considered the Swallows lucky to have it. Probably the result of growing up with food rationing.
I once found real pemmican on sale in a Tokyo store, so I presented a tin of it to ARC.
