Very sorry to hear of Dave's death. He visited the UK regularly at one time, when he was Head of TARSUS, and I had the good fortune to meet him. He was a realist, and had the dry sense of humour which many Americans have. It was Dave who persuaded me to keep a Mixed Moss index in operation on ATR, and I was happy to oblige (Alan Hakim now looks after it). He was a true AR enthusiast, and the magnificent ATR is a fitting memorial to him.
