AR is a master at painting his imaginary world so realistically that some of us have spent an entire lifetime looking for the 'real' places or the 'real' people. We feel the joy and pain of the Swallows, Amazons, D's and Death and Glories in our own hearts. But it is one thing to enjoy a poem, quite another thing to dissect it anatomically. Not everybody wants to pin back the wings of the butterfly and examine them through the microscope. That's too much like our day job, thank you very much. So on TarBoard we relax. Sometimes we drift away into the shallows caught up in our own private pleasures until suddenly a post inspires us. We change course and find ourselves back in the main channel.
TarBoard is truly magic and has given me and other TarBoarders many hours of pleasure. On the whole, with very occasional transgressions, we are really quite well behaved, and when we get too boisterous, Ian E-N is an effective pilot. Thank you Ian for keeping TarBoard up and going, for keeping us mostly on the right course, and for very occasionally pumping out the bilges when some heavy water comes overboard.
