Upper Miterdale aka Swallowdale 2 is a magical place, with the upper waterfall at the head of the valley having a strong Swallowdale feel to it, and a great place for an explorer's camp, but it lacks a convincing lower waterfall and the valley sides are really too high; while there is a possible Trout Tarn it does not feed the Mite headwaters, and of course it is nowhere near a lake.
I am not aware of anyone having found a definite AR connection to this area, but presumably he did not - at least as a young man seeking new fishing waters - confine himself solely to the Windermere/Coniston areas and might well have ventured as far as Miterdale and used a part of it when creating Swallowdale.
